Admissions
If you are not already a University of Toronto student, please visit the Admissions and Awards web site for information about applying to the university and enrolling in the Faculty of Arts & Science . There are several different admissions categories that include first-time student, transfer student, non-degree student, second degree student, etc. Admissions will be able to help you determine which category you fall under. In addition, you can contact them at 416-978-2190 or at admissions.help@utoronto.ca.Please note that the University of Toronto has a September intake only. There is no admissions cycle for January entry. Part-time and non-degree students may request to begin in the summer session (May). March 1st of each year is typically the deadline by which applications must be submitted to Admissions for programs in the Faculty of Arts & Science, but please verify this with Admissions before applying.
To be admitted into a subject POSt (program), students must have completed a minimum of 4.0 full-course equivalents (FCEs) at the university level, whether this is at the University of Toronto or at another institution. In other words, students do not begin a Minor, Major, or Specialist program until the beginning of their second year (the first year being a general exploratory year); or, for part-time students, after the completion of 4.0 FCEs. Therefore, admissions is a two-step process: first being admitted to the University and then being admitted to your desired program.
If you are transferring from another university, once you have been accepted to UofT your file will be passed onto the Transfer Credit Office within the Faculty of Arts & Science. There your previous university studies will be assessed for transferability to UofT as well as for admissibility to your requested program.
Admission Requirements for Psychology
Psychology Minor
This is a limited enrolment POSt that can only accommodate a finite number of students. Eligibility will be based on a student’s mark in the required course. The precise mark thresholds outlined below are an estimate of what will be required in the coming POSt admission cycle. Achieving this mark does not necessarily guarantee admission to the POSt in any given year.
1. PSY 100H1 with a final mark of a least 73% (AP Psychology not accepted*)
2. A senior-level high school Calculus course, or equivalent
3. Completion of 4-full university courses
*Note: AP Psychology (Advanced Placement) Transfer Credit - This course transfers as PSY 1*** and is not an accepted substitute for the PSY 100H1 entry requirement.
Psychology Major
