Talk Title: Maturation of the prefrontal-amygdala circuit and emotional learning
Brain & Behaviour Seminar Series 2017-2018
Abstract: Prefrontal cortex and amygdala are critical components of a brain circuit underlying emotional learning and are implicated in several psychiatric disorders. The vast majority of these disorders have their onset during early life, and yet very little is known about how synaptic connectivity between prefrontal cortex and amygdala changes across development. Our work describes (1) the maturation of synaptic connectivity between these sensitive brain regions and (2) establishes a new framework for the study of how changes in synaptic development within sensitive circuits might underlie the ontogeny of complex behaviour.
